About

I am a counselling psychologist working in private practice in Brooklyn,
Pretoria. Prior to this I ran successful practices in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, as well as online. I completed my internship at the Counselling Careers Development Unit at the University of the Witwatersrand. I went on to work there for many years and became the head supervising psychologist. The majority of my career is devoted to psychotherapy and psychotherapy supervision, but I am also involved in training and facilitation. I am passionate about taking a stand against all forms of social asymmetries including homophobia, transphobia, racism, and sexism. My research interests include (anti)racism, the intersection of race and gender, sexuality and gender identity, neurodiversity and psychotherapy.

My approach to therapy
My practice is welcoming of all people and situates itself within a queer, feminist framework where gender, sexual orientation, race, class, ability and all identity markers and differences are sensitively engaged with and held in mind.
My psychological approach is integrative in that it draws on many theories, but is grounded by psychodynamic theory. This means I believe in the importance of the unconscious, but also acknowledge the huge significance and impact of relationships on the psyche. It is helpful to look at all relationships in your life – past and present and this includes the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client.
